Normality

continued

logically suspicous
Since logic has been my running theme here, I can't finish without mentioning logical reasoning, which usually plays a key role in adventure games. Frustratingly, logical thinking isn't always the case with Normality. For example, to get by the bouncer at the TV station, you give him a rat, and he runs away. As Wayne "Theodore" Spicoli, Pet Detective might say, "Ex-squeeze me? Baking powder?" How was this solution rationalized? Well, the first time you encounter the bouncer, he emphatically calls you a "rat" several times. I'm not complaining too much, though, because this is one of the tougher puzzles to solve. As I said before, Normality is way too easy a game.

screen shot After weighing all of the evidence, I could only recommend this game for a child or maybe a novice gamer. In fact, Normality's ease-of-use, colorfully animated characters, and interface seem to earmark it for the 12 and under crowd. However, after further investigation (I read the box), I discovered that Normality is recommended for a "teen" audience due to "animated violence, use of tobacco and alcohol." Ergo, I can't recommend this game to anyone.

Truthfully, Normality has far less violence and adult content than most games I've played recently, and what little I saw was presented in an exaggerated cartoon style, so I would disagree with the age advisory. However, on a scale of 1 to 5, Normality rates only a 2. Logically speaking, a game titled Normality should have rated a 2.5, but again, I was never very good at logic.

Hugh Falk has no clue about the gaming industry in general and wouldn't know a good game if it was crammed down his throat. This biography is dedicated to those hard-working programmers and quality assurance engineers who have taken the time to critique his crappy reviews of their perfect games.
